What is restaurant reputation management?
Restaurant reputation management is how a restaurant monitors, protects and improves what guests say about it online, mainly in Google reviews. Guests choose where to eat by star rating and recent reviews, so one bad night that turns into a 1 star review can cost covers for months.
Review Shield is reputation management built for restaurants, cafes, bars and hospitality groups. It asks every guest for a rating at the table, sends happy guests to Google, gives unhappy guests a private line to your manager, replies to your Google reviews and turns your team into your best source of five star reviews.
See the review page your guests will use
This is a live example for Bella Cucina, an illustrative restaurant. Tap 5 stars to see where happy guests go, then try 2 stars to see the private note that reaches the manager instead. Your page uses your own logo, colours and Google review link.
- Opens instantly from a QR code, no app or login
- One question, one tap, under 30 seconds
- Works on every phone, in any browser
How Review Shield works: from scan to sorted in under a minute
A cold entree or a slow Friday happens in every restaurant. The difference is whether you hear about it at the table or read about it on Google next week.
- Step 1
Guest scans
Your QR code sits on tables, check presenters, receipts and the host stand. Each member of staff can have their own.
- Step 2
Guest rates the visit
Your branded review page asks one simple question. No app, no login, no forms to fill in first.
- Step 3
4 and 5 stars go to Google
Delighted guests land on your Google review form, ready to type. More five star reviews with less effort.
- Step 4

Restaurant reputation management FAQs
What is restaurant reputation management?
Restaurant reputation management is how a restaurant monitors, protects and improves what guests say about it online, mainly on Google. It covers asking happy guests for reviews, catching unhappy guests before they post, replying to every review and learning from complaints. Review Shield by Open Doors does all of this from one QR code and one simple dashboard.
How do I stop bad reviews on Google for my restaurant?
You cannot delete honest reviews, but you can hear about problems first. Review Shield asks every guest to rate their visit. Guests who give 1 to 3 stars reach a private form and your manager is alerted instantly, so you can apologise, refund or invite them back before they write a public review. Guests who give 4 or 5 stars go straight to your Google review form.
How do I get more 5 star Google reviews for my restaurant?
Ask at the right moment and make it one tap. Put your Review Shield QR code on tables, check presenters, receipts and takeaway bags, give each server their own code, and reward the team with a review leaderboard and an automatic Employee of the Month. Happy guests land directly on your Google review form.
Do I need any technical skills?
No. Choose a package and check out. Your Open Doors account, review page, link and QR code are created for you automatically, and we email you a sign in link to your dashboard, where you add your logo and Google review link.
What happens when a guest leaves 1 to 3 stars?
They see a short private form. Their message lands in your complaints pipeline straight away, with their contact details, so a manager can call or email the same day. It also shows in your Review Shield dashboard.
Who replies to my Google reviews?
On Starter, AI drafts a reply for you to approve. On Pro, AI replies automatically. On Elite, our team writes and posts your replies for you. You connect your Google Business Profile once.
How do staff QR codes work?
On Pro and Elite, type in your team’s names and each person gets their own QR code. Ratings from guests who scan it count towards that person on your leaderboard, and on Elite the top performers become Employee of the Month automatically.
Do I need my own website or domain?
No. Your review page is hosted by Open Doors and every restaurant gets a permanent link on opendoors.ai, such as opendoors.ai/review/your-restaurant. Printed QR codes keep working even if you change your page later.
How much does restaurant reputation management cost?
Review Shield costs $79 a month for Starter, $99 for Pro and $159 for Elite, or two months free when paid yearly. Comparable restaurant review platforms charge $99 to $199 a month. There are no setup fees and no contracts.
Is routing unhappy guests privately allowed by Google?
Google asks businesses not to discourage negative reviews or only ask happy customers for reviews, and some regions regulate this too. Review Shield is built around service recovery: unhappy guests reach your manager first so you can fix the problem. If you operate under strict policies, talk to us about showing every guest a public review option.
Is there a contract?
No. Packages are monthly or annual, billed through your Open Doors account, and you can cancel at any time. Annual packages get two months free.
